AI News Digest is a personal, non-commercial project. Signing in is optional; there are no ads and no tracking.

What we collect from sources

From public RSS feeds, the Hacker News API and the official Reddit API we store each item’s title, link, publish time, image link and text. When a source does not include the full text or an image, we fetch the linked page once to get them. Forum usernames are never stored or shown.

How AI is used

The text is sent to Google’s Gemini API, which writes a short English summary and, when a visitor picks Vietnamese, a translation. The prompt tells it to leave out names and addresses of forum posters. Google processes this text under its Gemini API terms.

What is shown on this site

Only the title, a short AI summary (a few key facts) and a link to the original. The full text of articles and posts is used internally to write the summary and is never published here. Images are loaded directly from the original site, not copied.

How long we keep it

Titles, links, the stored text, summaries and translations are kept with no fixed deletion date, so past digests and search keep working. Anything is deleted on request (see below).

Visitors

We set no cookies unless you sign in, and use no third-party analytics. For the visitor counter at the top of the page, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) for the current day only, so each visitor is counted once per day and we can estimate how many people are online; it is deleted the next day and only the daily totals are kept. Your language choice is saved only in your browser (localStorage). Search terms are sent to the server to find results and are not saved. When you press Summarize, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) for the current day only, to limit how many summaries one visitor can request; it is deleted the next day. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and page address) for a short time to run the service.

Signing in

Signing in with Google or X is optional; everything can be read without an account. If you sign in, our server stores only an internal account id (the provider name plus the account number it gives us) and the interests you choose. We do not store your name, email or profile picture. A sign-in cookie, encrypted and kept for up to 30 days, keeps you signed in; it holds only that account id and whether you are the site owner. Signing out deletes the cookie. To delete your account and interests, contact us (see below).

Voluntary support payments

If you choose to support the project, the payment is handled entirely by Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee and their payment partners. This site never sees or stores your card number. The platform may share your name, email and message with us, as described in its own privacy policy; we use them only to thank you and never sell or publish them.

Removal requests and problems

If you wrote or own an article, post or image shown here and want it removed, or a summary is wrong, email us and we will remove or fix it.
